Analyis of the race

An interesting novice, won tidily by MISTER BENEDICTINE on his second run over fences. He had appeared not to stay 2m3f at Hereford at the start of the month, but trainer Brendan Duke explained that the horse was found to have a slight wind problem after that race and has since had a procedure to correct it. He added that he felt Mister Benedictine, who was a 120-rated horse over hurdles, is best on a flat course, but he may send him for a valuable Galway novice in July.

Cape Greko, who had made a winning debut over fences here at the start of the month but then fell at Aintree, bounced back with a solid effort here, but he found the concession of 7lb to a basically classier rival beyond him.
