That strong pace brought the best out of the previously frustrating MUCHO LOCO. The gelding had not managed a placing in eight previous outings over hurdles, and trainer Roger Curtis said of him that he is a horse who "has the ability but has not been putting it in". He consented to put his best foot forward here, and though he was inclined to run about on the approach to the last flight, he could not be faulted on the run-in.
Ramvaswani, who did show some ability last season but had lost his way recently, ran without blinkers here - he had worn the headgear on his previous three outings this term - and that sparked a return to form, though whether he can build on this is another matter as he is still a maiden after 20 attempts.
