The ground had been changed to good after the third race following rain and the conditions proved ideal for ADMIRALS WAY to notch his first success in this modest handicap. He had run well in a claimer at Salisbury a fortnight earlier and was always close up before going on over two furlongs out, though hung towards the stands' rails before being driven out. He appeared to appreciate the little bit of give in the ground and another modest event like this could come his way in similar conditions.

Peas In A Pod was held up and made his progress from halfway; switched left over a furlong out before keeping on well in the closing stages. He certainly looks capable of winning in this grade and his turn is not far away.

My Flame had run well behind Topazes at Folkestone last time and was soon chasing the leaders and kept going without quickening.

Averoo had hung both ways and didn't look the easiest of rides as he stayed on in the closing stages without finding extra.

Carmel Maria was doing her best work in the closing stages on only her fourth outing and is open to further improvement in this grade.
