A decent little field despite the two non-runners, but there was not that much soft-ground form on offer. One who was sure to handle it was REDOLENT, and with the cheekpieces he had on when successful at Doncaster last time fitted for a second occasion here, he confirmed his superiority over both Iguazu Falls and Gaspar Van Wittel, whom he beat last time.

Ridden positively once again, the winner had to see off the challenge of Iguazu Falls, but in truth he never really looked like being beaten. He will now be aimed at a Group 3 in France, where he ought to get the give underfoot that suits him so well.

Iguazu Falls had decent soft-ground form in the Horris Hill, but he was beaten fair and square here. He nevertheless finished clear of Virtual, who was pulled out at Haydock on Saturday on account of fast ground but had never run on going this soft and may have found it against him. He looked promising going into the race and is worth another chance.

Gaspar Van Wittel looked relatively exposed and has limitations, while Fr Dominic had been off the track more than eight months since his defeat of Virtual on fast ground first time out at Newmarket last year. In the circumstances, this is easily forgiven.
