Analyis of the race
A low grade handicap but NAVENE had shown enough last season to suggest she was more than capable of winning in this grade and confirmed that with a solid effort. She had been slowly away on her reappearance at Southwell but was soon into her stride and racing prominently. She went on two furlongs out and kept on well. She is the sort that could progress a little further in this sort of company and this straight mile suited her admirably.
Hassem had made a promising seasonal debut at Brighton a month earlier and put in a similar effort as he kept on well in the final furlong after being held up early on. He looks capable of scoring at this level and his turn will come.
Libre was behind but kept on well in the final furlong after meeting trouble. He doesn't win very often but has run two good races in a row now.
Upstairs shaped a little better on this step up in trip but is clearly of limited ability.
Wodhill Scnapps travelled well for a long way but didn't find as much as he looked like doing.
Kingsholm found trouble in running and is better than his placing suggested.
