Imperial Guest soon pushed along in rear, headway over 2f out, led over 1f out, ridden clear
Mazzola led 2f, led again over 2f out, ridden and headed over 1f out, hung left inside final furlong, no extra
Kate The Great slowly into stride, soon prominent, ridden over 1f out, no extra final furlong
Soul Sista chased leaders, edged left throughout, ridden and every chance over 2f out, weakened final furlong
Suruor started slowly, outpaced, ridden over 2f out, not trouble leaders
Secret Society started slowly, headway over 2f out, weakened over 1f out
Lisburn with leader until led 4f out, ridden and headed over 2f out, weakened over 1f out
Victory went to IMPERIAL GUEST, who had been fancied for his debut at Windsor and left his debuteffort behind with a comfortable success. He was held up and only asked to make his progress in the final two furlongs but found a tidy turn of foot to come and cut down his rivals, and was well on top at the end. He looks capable of improving with further experience and could have earned his place in the Chesham Stakes.
They were running into a headwind and that made Mazzola's effort commendable as he was in front from the start until headed over three furlongs out and was back in front again approaching the next furlong. He had no answer to the winner's finishing burst but he can win more races at a more modest level.
Soul Sista was unruly in the stalls but ran well enough although finding this company above her station.
Suruor looked fit enough for his debut, if not a little green but he was slowly into his stride and was never really in with a chance. He can improve with experience.
The big disappointment was the odds-on Secret Society, who also fluffed the start before making up his ground steadily towards the stands to have his chance in the final two furlongs but weakened quickly in the closing stages. He is clearly thought better than this and can be given a chance to put this effort behind him.
