STAKED A CLAIM, who had run well on his reappearance, came good here, but it took a powerful ride from Patrick Collington to get him home near the finish. Now that he's got his head in front, he should be able to win another little race or two.
Willie Ever, who was taken down early, was loaded into the stalls even before the other runners had arrived at the start. Back on turf, he ran a sound race and should be capable of winning at this level.
Cryptic Clue was yet another who has been running on all-weather tracks. He belied his odds here with a sterling effort here and kept on right to the line.
The others were comfortably held. Patrick Millman, rider of Vogarth, was suspended for two days for careless riding (dates to be notified) for causing interference to the likewise unplaced Only A Splash.
