Gumley Gale won off a mark of 114 three years ago, but he is down to 87 these days and, having scored off a 2lb lower mark at Chepstow last October, he showed that he can still be competitive in this grade with a battling win. A mistake four out looked to have handed the initiative to Classic Rock, but he stayed on the stronger from two out to gainthe day.
Return Home looked booked for a fair third untildeparting at the second-last. He too has shown his best form over shorter distances and the ease in the ground did him no favours.
