Quest For Success held up, ridden and weakened over 2f out
Opus Maximus held up, ridden over 1f out, always in rear
C´Mon You Irons chased leaders over 3f
Westwood slowly into stride, held up, always in rear
Fol Hollow unruly in stalls, slowly into stride, headway over 3f out, hung right and weakened over 2f out
Carleton ran his best race of the season from his lowest mark and seemed to handle the ground well enough. He was held up in last place early, made good progress towards the far rail over a furlong out and had every chance inside the final furlong.
Prohibit ran well behind Sir Gerry in a Listed race at Ascot last time but was encountering very different ground here and didn't appear too happy on it. He tracked the leader until asked for his effort over a furlong out, but his head went up as if he was feeling the ground and he kept on at the same pace. More will be heard from him.
Mister Hardy was outpaced a furlong out but stayed on in decent fashion and could do better over 7f, while Victorian Bounty showed plenty of pace towards the centre and can win again in slightly lower grade.
Oasis Wind was soon chasing the leaders and ran a little better without suggesting the first-time blinkers brought a great deal of improvement.
*Joe Fanning reported that Fol Hollow was never travelling.
*Ted Durcan reported that Westwood was unsuited by the firm ground.
*Adrian McCarthy reported that C'mon You Irons was unsuited by the firm ground.
*Jimmy Quinn reported that Opus Maximus lost his action in the closing stages.
