Calming Influence held up, headway over 2f out, chased leader over 1f out, edged left inside final furlong, ran on to lead near finish
Stimulation slowly into stride, headway to chase leader 6f out, led 2f out, ridden, hung left and headed near finish
Red Alert Day held up, headway over 1f out, ran on well
Exhibition slowly into stride, held up, ridden over 1f out, never near to challenge
Bobs Surprise chased leaders, ridden over 2f out, weakened over 1f out
Tasdeer chased leaders, ridden over 1f out, soon weakened
Maze held up, effort over 2f out, weakened over 1f out
Western Art slowly into stride, held up, ridden over 2f out, soon weakened
Luck Money led 5f, soon ridden and weakened
Stimulation won the Free Handicap over course and distance before finishing seventh in the 2,000 Guineas and looked to have the race at his mercy when leading at the two-furlong pole, but he may have been in front long enough and was collared in the closing stages. He probably ran right up to his best and gives the impression he wouldn't be inconvenienced by the drop to 6f.
Exhibition, held up towards the rear, was asked for an effort two furlongs out but appeared to hate the ground.
Bobs Surprise showed plenty of pace and could be suited by a drop in trip.
Tasdeer was close up for a long way but found the company too exacting, while Luck Money, fifth in the Dewhurst, weakened afterbeing headed by the winner and was another probably unsuited by the very fast surface.
*Richard Quinn reported that Luck Money lost his action.
*Richard Hills reported that Tasdeer lost his action.
