Mister Arjay made all, set steady pace, quickened 3f out, ridden well over 1f out, driven inside final furlong and stayed on well
Mr Crystal tracked leaders, headway on outer over 2f out, ridden to challenge over 1f out, driven and every chance inside final furlong, no extra last 100yds
El Dececy held up in touch, smooth headway over 2f out, not much room well over 1f out, challenged and every chance entering final furlong, soon ridden and one pace
Nounou tracked leader, effort 3f out, ridden along 2f out, driven and weakened approaching final furlong
Rocknest Island tracked leading pair, ridden along on inner over 2f out, soon weakened
Synonymy held up in rear, effort over 3f out, soon ridden and beaten
MISTER ARJAY, raised 3lb for his good effort in second at York last time, owed this victory to a cracking ride from Tony Hamilton, who dictated things to a nicety from the front.
Allowed an uncontested lead,Hamilton slowed the field before kicking for home at the 3f pole. His mount answered him gamely and refused to be denied throughout the final furlong.
Mr Crystal, raised 9lb for his Newcastle success, raced keenly in this slowly run affair. He kept on well under pressure in the straight, but was never able to reel in the winner.
Nounou was comfortably held; Rocknest Island, a stout stayer, had little chance in a slowly run race, and Synonymy, raised3lb for his Warwick win, ran a stinker, fading sharply once the race began in earnest.
