Shampagne led over 2f, close up until led again 2f out, soon ridden and stayed on strongly final furlong

Salsa Star took keen hold early, tracked leaders, headway 2f out, chased winner well over 1f out, ridden and edged left entering final furlong, kept on same pace

River Rye tracked leaders, effort 2f out, ridden over 1f out and soon no impression

Go Nani Go pulled hard, close up until led over 3f out, ridden and headed 2f out, soon beaten and eased final furlong

This has been an informative juvenile conditions event which in the past couple of years has been won by Sir Xaar and Hellvelyn, but it remains to be seen whether this race will prove up to that standard. That said, the winner, SHAMPAGNE, who won a decent Kempton maiden last time, and was giving weight away all round, scored in good style. He travelled well just off the pace, and sent on just after the turn for home, ran on in good style. He's clearly a decent early season sort, the step up to 6f wasin his favour and he should find further opportunities.

Salsa Star, the only newcomer in the line up, ran a solid enough race on her debut. She was a bit keen, but raced in touch, and though she challenged wide early in the straight, the winner proved too strong. She should have no trouble in winning a race.

latter, who had won on his Musselburgh debut, was far too keen this time, and though he settled in front at halfway, he had done too much too soon and dropped right out and was eased in the last two furlongs. He will be better with more cover, and this may prove just a minor blip.
