This was just an average juvenile event, but there was plenty to like about the winning debut of FOLSOMPRISONBLUES, who missed the break and came from a long way off the pace. He further compromised his chances by hanging to his left, and was so left isolated of the other runners on the wide outside. His trainer Eoghan O'Neill thinks highly of him and it would be no surprise to see him contesta fancy target in due course.
Faraway Sound, a beaten favourite on easy ground over 5f on his debut at Ripon, showed plenty of pace here and looked the most likely winner for much of the race. However, he showed a tendency to hold his head at an angle, looking as though he wanted to go to his left, and he was worried out of it inside the final furlong.
Tagula Breeze, who showed little on his debut, shaped more promisingly here over this extra furlong, and did some solid work in the second half of the race.
The remainder were comfortably held, with newcomers Rapid Release and Great Charter, representing powerful yards, both failing to muster the pace to pose serious threats.
