BATCHWORTH BLAISE is a half-brother to his stable's flagbearer Dancing Mystery, and although he had never won in 21 previous starts Eric Wheeler had been told on three different occasions on the all-weather that he would have won with a clear run. In the circumstances it was possibly asking for trouble bringing him through the middle of the pack from the back of the field, but he enjoyed a clear run and got on top near the finish.
Patavium Prince, back down in trip after two tries at 1m2f, was up there all of the way and was right back to form, but top-weight Imperium rather threw away his chance by swerving left when he arrived on the scene, having looked a potential winner when he began hiseffort promisingly.
Border Artist came from behind to finish well clear of the rest.
Fergus Sweeney reported that Smokin Joe lost his action.
Paul Eddery reported that Brean Dot Com was unsuited by the track and ground.
