A fair race within its ratings band, and it provided a good opportunity for the former Listed class SILVER BLUE to follow up his recent 1m win here, since when he had been very unlucky in running at Bath. The one-time Feilden Stakes third and Esher Cup fourth was crossed at the start and stopped in his run several times before flying home in third at Bath, but this time he avoided any trouble, although he again came from off the pace. He still had a bit to do when coming under strong pressure over a furlong out, but the further he went the better he looked, and connections reckon he will stay beyond 1m2f now.

He may turn out at Leicester or Goodwood next week under a penalty, but he was already due to go up another 2lb and so would effectively be 8lb higher than here, in which case there might not be any great rush.

Astrolibra ran well here last time and did so again, although she had her chance and there was no excuse.

Granary Girl was towards the rear early on but having picked up to get into fourth near the rail she was no longer gaining at the finish.

Personify, already beaten when tightened up, was a respectable fifth, just ahead of Muffett's Dream, who ran better over this longer trip, and long-time leader Faraday.
