Best One with leaders, hung left and led 1f out, driven out
One Way Ticket pressed leader, led 3f out, hard ridden and headed 1f out, one pace inside final furlong
Cosmic Destiny steadied start, held up towards rear, not clear run 2f out, headway to press leaders 1f out, one pace
Desperate Dan dwelt, soon ridden in rear, effort and not clear run over 1f out, switched sharply left, disputing 2nd and running on when hit rail final 50yds
Peopleton Brook chased leaders on outside, ridden and outpaced final 2f
Peter Island soon chasing leaders, outpaced 2f out, beaten when hung left final furlong
Our Fugitive led 2f, prominent on inside rail until hard ridden and weakened over 1f out
Multahab held up in 6th place, ridden to chase leaders 2f out, weakened final furlong
BEST ONE was making his debut for new connections after being bought out of Clive Brittain's stable following a selling win over this trip on the all-weather at Lingfield. Never far away, he got to the front a furlong or so out and was always holding on, despite hanging left. He should not go up too much for this and so should remain competitive, but this fast ground is considered vital.
One Way Ticket showed his usual speed from the start and kept on under pressure. This was another positive for his stable, which has been out of form.
Cosmic Destiny's stable has gone more than five months without a winner, but she goes well here and showed enough in third to suggest she will be winning again before too long. Having been held up as usual she did not see a lot of daylight, but she was running on at the finish.
Peopleton Brook, 5lb outof the handicap, ran better than at Goodwood the previous afternoon, but Peter Island was disappointing, notwithstanding his long absence, for he was not expected to need the race and there were plenty of positives emanating from the stable and the betting.
Our Fugitive, making his debut for a new stable, dropped away after showing speed on the inner.
Course specialist Multahab was well below form.
