Caustic Wit dwelt, towards rear, ridden and headway 2f out, led inside final furlong, driven out
Jayanjay held up in touch, effort and hard ridden 2f out, led 1f out until inside final furlong, kept on
Nordic Light chased leaders, outpaced 2f out, hard ridden over 1f out, rallied and ran on final furlong
Tamino ridden to lead, hard ridden and headed 1f out, one pace, disputing 3rd and beaten when not much room near finish
Star Strider in touch, switched right 2f out, effort and hard ridden over 1f out, not quicken final furlong
Monashee Prince settled in 6th place on outside, hard ridden 2f out, no impression
Valeesha started slowly, behind, ridden over 2f out, never reached leaders
Exponential chased leader until hard ridden and weakened over 1f out
Veteran CAUSTIC WIT had surprisingly run only once here before, but he coped with the track well and confirmed the hint of promise he had shown at Bath on Monday with a game success, running on strongly to lead inside the final furlong after being in an unpromising position at the back of the pack two furlongs out. He was handicapped to win here, and should not be badly treated still when reassessed.
Jayanjay loves this track and ran right up to form, while Nordic Light ran on again to snatch a good third after getting outpaced, doing particularly well considering his stable is struggling again for winners.
Star Strider and Monashee Prince, who made his effort widest of all, were both almost upsides the third and fourth but neither ever looked like winning and they look as if they willcontinue to struggle.
