Graysland slowly into stride, behind, ridden after 2f, no chance from halfway
Analyis of the race
An even weaker race following the withdrawal of Lesley's Choice, and a good opportunity for MAZZOLA if he stayed the extra furlong, for he had run well twice in better company at 5f. Having disputed the early lead he went on at halfway, and he was firmly in charge with more than a furlong to go. He came home well clear and was probably value for even more, for he was pricking his ears in the closing stages and Eddie Creighton confirmed he was pulling up on him, having been in front plenty long enough.
Ritzy Wildcat's connections went to the trouble of bringing over from Ireland the rider who had been on board when he impressed at the breeze-up, and he was heavily backed again. For the first time he broke well, but when Rigged came across him and grabbed the rail he started pulling hard, and then in the last two furlongs he hung left, right and then left again - always away from the whip, but probably unbalanced by the track too. He is proving expensive to follow and is evidently not showing in the track what he shows at home, although he might well have done better if he had been able to take advantage of his good break and made the running against the rail.
Rigged had two handlers in the parade ring and played up when mounted. He looks one to have reservations about.
The other two were never on terms.
