It was no surprise that MON PLAISIR and Krisnando, who reared and gave them half a dozen lengths' start, ended up on the business end as others who chased the pace cried enough. As such, the form should be treated with caution.
Mon Plaisir certainly improved for the step up in trip and faster ground. He put in a strong run widest out and, despite diving sharply right under pressure, he was well in command at the line. Having been dropped in the ratings last time, he is starting from a low mark and can progress again under summer conditions.
Mizooka showed a welcome return to form on this sounder surface, having got bogged down on softer last time. She too was eased for that defeat and should soon make amends.
Krisnando did well to finish so close after her bungling start. She had shown precious little previously, so this augurs well for a similar race.
Doctor Robert did well to hold fifth after all his exertions on this seasonal return and if his powers can be harnessed, he could yet win a race.
Sleepy Hollow was a sore disappointment, dropping away quickly after being niggled along early in the straight. This run was too bad to be true and his jockey reported the gelding had stoppedquickly.
