There was a strong pace with these experienced sprint handicappers merging into one group up the inside rail but there were few hard-luck stories as they spread out delivering their challenges across the course in the last 2f.
CHARLIE DELTA has shown a liking for this course and distance and, despite veering badly right after being delivered wide midtrack, he had the race won into the final furlong as he swept clear. He had come back down to a handy mark and on this evidence there is still something to play with as these types of races are not usually won so clearly.
Sovereignty continues to run consistently which does not help his rating and this trip is as sharp as he wants as he was staying on when it was all over.
Exit Strategy, one of the younger and less exposed runners, showed his comeback run to be all wrong and he can progress more than some around him with a turf mark that has eased nicely.
Nothing else threatened with both Elusive Dream and Vanadium most disappointing, especially as the handicapper has reassessed them higher in future. Elusive Dream set a strong pace dropping a furlong in trip but was beaten before the final furlong. Vanadium could not cope with the drop back in trip after his 7f win at the expense of placed horses here. He did get mucked about looking for a run and had to finally switch widest out midtrack but he failed to make any impression through the last 300yds, which was a major disappointment after his effort last week.
