Elysee Palace always prominent, led narrowly just over 2f out, ridden over 1f out, ran on when pressed inside final furlong, always doing enough
San Jose City midfield, headway over 2f out, strong challenge inside final furlong, ran on under pressure
Blindspin held up, headway when not clear run 2f out and again over 1f out, progress inside final furlong, stayed on well towards finish without reaching front pair
Green Diamond chased leaders, ridden over 2f out, stayed on same pace final furlong
Majeen raced keenly, tracked leaders, hung left from 3f out, kept on same pace final furlong
Brasingaman Hifive midfield, headway on outside 2f out, ridden 1f out, kept on well final furlong without troubling leaders
Mr Macattack dwelt, in rear, ridden and hung left from over 1f out, kept on, never able to challenge
Shanafarahan raced keenly in midfield, lost place over 2f out, no impression after
Kool Katie started slowly, held up, effort over 2f out, one pace from over 1f out,
Thannaan led, headed just over 2f out, soon ridden, losing place when not much room and hampered just inside final furlong, soon eased
La Chicaluna raced keenly, prominent, ridden 2f out, soon weakened
Topflightrebellion always behind, pushed along over 3f out, never on terms
ELYSEE PALACE had not shown much in two runs in handicap company this time, but this was her first venture on fast ground and it clearly suited her, though she did have the run of the race. Keen early, she was always in the first two, led over 2 out and stayed on well. She is lightly raced andis open to further improvement but, judged by the way the race panned out, it is hard to gauge her performance with any accuracy
San Jose City, who was just touched off on his British debut at Southwell, raced in touch, challenged strongly in the final furlong but was just held. He will win a race.
Third went to Blindspin, who could have been unlucky. After not getting the best of starts, he got behind, made headway from 3 out, but found plenty of trouble as he came through the field and isdefinitely a fair bit better than the form.
Majeen raced in touch but hung left all the way up the straight and looked as though he was hating the ground.
Mr Macattack, having only his second start and his first on turf, missed the break, and although he made up some ground in the straight, he was edging left and may need easier ground.
Thannaan, who won his maiden on good to soft, led early but in the end was disappointing as he faded right out of it in the last 2f. He's another who is probably better suited by easier ground, though his connections had no explanation for his below-par performance.
