CELTIC DRAGON is a half-brother to the useful Spice Route but had been disappointing since his debut second at Bath, including when down the field in another maiden there on his reappearance. The latter race was on softish ground on a cold, wet day. However, he evidently appreciated these very different conditions, for he stayed on under strong pressure on the wide outside and won gamely. He will be suited by further and Amanda Perrett expects him to get 1m6f or so.
Summer Winds was held up and travelled well. He came off the bridle long after Celtic Dragon, but in the run to the line he foundthe winner just too strong, having possibly had to wait a little longer than intended before he was able to begin his effort.
Forget It is a grand-looking colt by Galileo and it looked as if a mark of 68 might have underestimated him on his handicap debut following three qualifying runs. He had been working well and was all the rage in the morning, but having moved up nicely on to the heels of the leaders as they started up the straight he was beaten quickly when asked to challenge. Connections reported that the ground was too quick for him.
Shaama Rose never got into it, and front-running Fun Seeker was in trouble early in the straight.
