INDIAN ART was among the nicest in the paddock and had the benefit of aprevious outing at Kempton, where he had shaped reasonably well. Drawn next to the rail, he gradually moved right to race on the stands' side flank of the pack, where he was never too far away, although it appeared to be only in the last strides that he got his nose in front. He did not have too hard a race, and Richard Hughes reported that he raced lazily, which suggests there is more to come. Connections are inclined towards Epsom's Woodcote Stakes now he has had experience of coming down a hill, and he might then skip Royal Ascot to wait for Newmarket.
In Transit was drawn towards the far side and had also had a run. From a stable whose juveniles are flying, he showed up well throughout and was only just run out of it. A similar race ought to be there for the taking.
Burning Flute, drawn widest, showed lots of pace, as one would expect from one of his breeding. Rio Royale, who like the four in front of him had run already, kept on for a respectable fifth ahead of three newcomers. They were headedby Advertise, the first runner by first-season sire Passing, who tracked Burning Flute up the far side and shaped well, and Barwell Bridge, who could be the one to take out of the race as he did well to get into contention around 1f out after starting slowly and getting well detached through greenness. Barwell Bridge's effort flattened out in the end, but that's not surprising considering the running he had to do to get in touch.
The winner's connections were pleased enough with their second runner, Super Fourteen, and he can do better too.
