CAPTAIN DUNNE failed to beat a rival in a 20-runner handicap at Doncaster on his previous start, but he returned to form in no uncertain terms on this first try on Fibresand. He was clearly well suited by the surface and had what looked a tricky sprint in the bag from some way out. There are several big prizes over this course and distance through the course of the winter and he have to be a candidate for some of them if kept on the go.
Pawan, back on Fibresand, recovered from a slow start and kept on well for second.
Green Park is not easy to win with these days, but this was his first try on Fibresand and he ran well in defeat.
Judge ‘N Jury is a progressive sprinter, but he could not defy a 2lb rise for his recent Doncaster success on this first try on Fibresand. He is probably better suited by easy ground on turf and Polytrack.
Kay Two is entitled to be sharper for this first run in over two months off, while Northern Empire was below his best turned out just three days after failing to beat a rival at Haydock.
