Analyis of the race
CONTRADA had not finished closer than eight lengths behind a winner in five previous starts and had an unsuccessful experiment with blinkers last time, but he hammered his opponentshere after sweeping into the lead off the steady pace. He could receive a hefty rise for this win and the form looks a bit suspect because several of his rivals hung and looked a bit quirky, but he has obviously improved for a wind operation and further progress is possible.
Citron Presse found things happening a bit quickly dropped in trip and did not seem to handle the undulations very well. The leader had already made a decisive move by the time she got going, but she did manage to finish clear of the third.
Locum has been fairly consistent but expensive to follow. He was again prominent in the market but hung left to the far rail when pressure was applied and could only plug on.
Cwm Rhondda failed to build on her second to an impressive winner on soft ground over C&D last time. She may not have handled the quicker ground.
