Almolahek had shown plenty of ability on his sole start here in October and is another that should get a bit further, although this type of trip may suit him best. Always close to the pace, he ran a bit green and had to be stoked up early in the straight. He eventually led a furlong out and kept on when headed. The winner just seemed to be a little bit straighter and there's no guarantee that the placings wouldn't be reversed should they meet again over this trip.
If there was an unlucky horse in the race it was King Of Westphalia. Held up out the back, he was towards the rear without any racing room early in the straight, and his rider had to switch him right around the field with less than two furlongs to race. Once he got racing room he came home very strongly but it was all too late. He should be well capable of winning a similar contest with a modicum of luck in running.
Galiyan has the potential to improve but looks as though he struggles to get this trip. Held up out the back, he came through on the outside over a furlong out and was close enough to throw down a challenge but didn't quite get home up the hill.
The Tartan Army showed promise. He was at the head of affairs and was probably keen enough until he had no extra over two furlongs out. He kept on again inside the final furlong, just ahead of Double Parked. He played up quite a bit down at the start and while never in the race with a chance he kept on late and was never nearer.Another who probably has enough ability to win a race is Denetra. He travelled well in the leading group most of the way and was still bang there disputing the lead a furlong and a half out before weakening inside the final 100 yards. A drop back in trip looks as if it would definitely suit. [JO'H]
