Fourth in this race last year, Ground Ivy ran a similar race this time in a weaker renewal. Handy most of the way, he kept on well from the second-last but wasn't quite able to take advantage of the wanderings of the winner.
The always-prominent Inoma James was headed after a mistake at the second last and came home at one pace from there and finished a mile clear of everything else.
Round And Round was in touch when almost coming to a standstill after a mistake three out.
Favourite Turn Up made a bad mistake at the first, but did get back on an even keel and raced prominently before he came under pressure and weakened quickly after the third-last. He was pulled up early in the straight. [JO'H]
