SOLWHIT'S success wasn't a total surprise judged on his noteworthy debut effort at Fairyhouse a couple of weeks ago and he produced the requisite improvement to win this contest. Mid-division early, he made gradual progress throughout the race, closing up two out and challenging before the final flight. When it looked as though the runner-up was going to produce a renewed effort, the winner found plenty and pulled away to score quite smoothly. He may go back to the Flat but whatever happens, the trainer certainly has a useful recruit on his hands.

Silverhand put his very disappointing effort at Cheltenham behind him with a much better performance here. Never far from the pace, he came through to lead at the second last before he was quickly challenged by the winner and headed. To his credit, he attempted to battle back but the winner was just too strong.

Siege Of Ennis was never really sighted with a chance but kept on well from the second last to be nearest at the finish. It wouldn't be a surprise to see him revert to the Flat to try and break his duck in that sphere.Whatever stamina limitations Dani California had would probably have been exposed in a race like this, not that she was ever close enough to be a factor. She was unlikely to be good enough to score here with the tactics that would need to have been employed, but she kept on well enough from off the pace to be a pretty decent fifth.

It was a big ask for Glenbarrow to win this one run after winning an ordinary Limerick maiden hurdle, but this chasing type ran well enough. He was handy enough most of the way and wasn't good enough to get any closer than his finishing position.

Pied Piper Man was found to have heavy mucus present following apost race scope.[JOH]
