Some fingers may well be pointed at the ride given to Northern Alliance, but that would be somewhat short-sighted. True, he was held up some way off the strong pace, but he seemed to getthere with every chance jumping the last and the truth is that the winner was holding him all the way to the line. She just was not to be denied. The second ran a fine race and just came up against a better horse on the day. He's still well enough handicapped to win more races.
Son Of Oscar was also held up a good bit off the pace. He began to improve before the second last but could never make up the ground quickly enough and in the end he stayed on at the same pace without being able to trouble the first two. He at least showed that he got this trip, which would have been a slight question mark.
Follow The Plan has improved since running out a surprise winner of a maiden hurdle at Thurles last month and ran another very decent race here. Tracking the early pace, he was under pressure and looked to be dropping back before the second last before staying on again. He looks an out and out stayer and trips in excess of thiswill see him really come into his own.
Dosco was close to the pace much of the way but lost his place from the third last and in the end could only keep on at one pace.
Dancing Hero was also prominent and looked a typically difficult ride.He pulled hard in front and was beaten once headed after the third last.
After a bad mistake at the first flight, Native Royal didn't jump or travel, according to rider James O'Farrell. She was found to have swallowed some kickback after endoscopic examination.[JOH]
