Burn The Breeze made all, shaken up over 2f out, quickened over 1f out, readily
Changing Skies soon chasing winner, ridden over 2f out, no chance with winner final furlong but ran on well to hold clear 2nd
Arthur´s Girl chased leaders in 3rd throughout, one pace final 2f
Dolly Penrose towards rear, ridden and stayed on from 2f out, chased leading trio final furlong but never any chance
Gravitation chased leaders, ridden 3f out, weakened from 2f out
Belotto took keen hold in rear, ridden and some progress from over 2f out, never in contention
Pure Song steadied towards rear 5f out, soon pushed along and never in contention after
Certain Promise chased leaders until weakened from 3f out
Garland steadied start, took keen hold, always in rear
Henry Cecil can do little wrong at present and his 75-rated filly BURN THE BREEZE proved good enough. Slowly progressive in three starts at up to 1m as a juvenile, she enjoyed the run of things out in front and picked up well to hold off the challengers quite readily in the end. Expected to need further in time, she holds an Irish Oaks engagement, but that is a long way off and first she will need to prove her worth in something like the Cheshire Oaks. Interestingly, she is not believed to be as good as Montbretia, runner-up in the first division.
Changing Skies hardened at the head of the market following the win of Clowance in the first division and she looked the likeliest winner. However, she seemed to get caught a bit flatfooted by the winner and never looked like reeling her in. A similar contest should be hers for the taking, though, and a sterner test of stamina is likely to be needed before long.
Newcomer Dolly Penrose is a sister to smart stayer Misternando, who did so well for the yard, and she was putting in her best work late. This was a really promising start from the Oaks entrant and it is reasonable to expect further improvement as she steps up in trip.
Gravitation shaped well enough on this debut and, like many from the yard, should learn from this initial outing.
Belotto improved on last year's Lingfield effort and ran well enough to suggest she will have a future in handicaps.
Pure Song is nicely bred, being a half-sister to Goncharova, and she ran as though the outing would do her good.
Certain Promise was the disappointment of the race, even if she would have preferred faster ground. She will be qualified for handicaps following another run and may do better in that sphere. [MB]
