Analyis of the race
APOCALOZZO may not have impressed everyone with the way he jumped tackling regulation fences at Fakenham last week, where he landed a right old gamble, but he proved here that he is going the right way with experience as he jumping and galloped his rivals into the ground from the front.
Much more fluent over his obstacles, he defied the 7lb penalty with consumate ease, drawing right away after the last, putting his stamina for further to good use. He's won on heavy ground in points, so he's clearly versatile ground wise and he looks the type to run up a sequence, especially if getting a stiffer test of stamina.
Connections are also keen to take advantage of his current hurdle rating of 63.
Mystical Star tried to throw down a challenge approaching the last but he was brushed aside in the closing stages. He's not won for a while but he's bumped into a progressive rival here and put clear daylight between himself and the rest
A Sea Commander again didn't put in a clear round of jumping and a bad blunder at the fourth last put paid to his chance, while Auditor travelled well fora while but he found very little for pressure and was left well behind.
The veterinary office reported that Millenium Mag was lame off-hind.
AP McCoy reported that Yellow Flag did not move well down the hill on the last circuit.
