NASRI had Definightly half a length behind in second when landing a course-and-distance maiden on his previous start, so it was asurprise the pair reopposed on the same terms, let alone on such lenient-looking marks, considering today's runner-up boosted the form when an emphatic winner of an ordinary Lingfield maiden and the Meehan runner duly confirmed form.
The winner recovered well from a slow start and stayed on strongest of all when switched towards the outer of the main group with his challenge. This was a very useful effort and he is progressing into a decent colt.
Although by Kyllachy, he is out of a 1m2f winner andis likely to be stepped up to 7f next time. The Group 3 Somerville Tattersall Stakes at Newmarket is apparently being considered, but connections will wait and see what the handicapper does before making any decisions.
The runner-up, who beat little of note at Lingfield last time but still did the job impressively, ran his race in second but could not reverse earlier course form with Nasri, and his connections are entitled to feel a little hard done by that he had to reoppose that rival on the same terms. Having travelled really powerfully, he found plenty and this still rates as a decent effort in defeat.
Cheviot, off the mark in a Polytrack maiden over this trip at Kempton on his previous start, ran well to finish close up and his effort is all the more creditable considering he fared best of those in a double-figure stall.
Timeteam ran a solid race stepped back up in trip and should find slightly easier opportunities.
Saucy Brown was dropping significantly in class, but had no easy task under his big weight. This was a respectable effort, but he might not be the easiest to place, unless an ordinary novice event can be found, while Finnegan McCool also looks on a stiff enough mark. Finnegan McCool was reported to have been unsuited by the ground. [RW]
