DAR ES SALAAM, who was only narrowly beaten at Sandown last time, was officially 7lb well in at the weights compared to future handicaps, and he took advantage, getting the job done as he was entitled to. He is in fine form at present and could well cope with the rise in the weights due to him. A hurdling campaign beckons this winter.
Cupid's Glory did not get the clearest of passages in the final two furlongs and the winner got first run on him, but it did not make any difference to the result and it was off-putting to see him once again hang left under pressure.
Slip was running on at the finish. This appears to be his best trip at the moment but a stronger pace would have suited him.
Stow was another who could have done with a stronger all-round gallop as he was always struggling to make up ground from off the pace this time.
Tri Nations did not run too badly but he probably prefers quicker ground, while Black Rain was far from disgraced considering he proved difficultto settle in the early stages.
Higgy's Boy was disappointing, but he normally races on right-handed tracks.
