Palavicini took keen hold early, chased leader, challenged 2f out, slight lead soon after, headed and not pace of winner inside final furlong but stayed on well to dispute close 2nd
Aurorian led, ridden 2f out, narrowly headed soon after, weakened inside final furlong
Souter Point chased leaders, ridden 3f out, weakened 2f out
Lord Of The Flame prominent until weakened quickly halfway
He was the trainer's fourth winner of the race in the last ten years, and he is now likely to take a similar path to his previous winners Elshadi and Nayef, and take in the Autumn Stakes at Ascot next. His pedigree suggests he should make up into a middle-distance performernext year, and he looks a smart prospect on this evidence.
Full Toss, whose sire Nayef won this race in 2000, got off the mark at the third attempt at Chester last time and stepping up a furlong in trip promised to suit him. Giving 4lb to the winner, he could not quite make his experience tell, but he ran a sound race and helps set a level for the form.
Aurorian, a stablemate of Full Toss, made all on the favoured stands' side at Lingfield last time and he could not take advantage of any similar draw bias here. He was easily brushed aside by the first three inside the last.
Souter Point shaped with plenty of promise on his debut in a Sandown maiden that is working out well but he was one-paced under pressure here and this was a step backwards.
