Totoman chased leader, led over 3f out, ridden clear from over 1f out

Colorado Springs slowly into stride, held up, headway halfway, ridden over 3f out, weakening when hung left over 1f out

Blue Admiral slowly into stride, held up, shaken up over 2f out, never near to challenge

Turtle Dove held up in touch, raced keenly, not clear run over 2f out, soon hampered and lost place, not recover

Bonzo held up, always in rear, weakened over 2f out

Speyside prominent, ridden over 3f out, hung left over 2f out, soon lost action and eased

This is unlikely to prove strong form and the time was slow, especially considering the conditions. That said, you couldn't knock the way TOTOMAN went about breaking his maiden. He was a solid if unspectacular fifth at Windsor last week but appears to be improving for racing and this step up in trip to 1m2f was in his favour. He was always tracking Director's Chair and made light work of collaring his rival, going clear over 1f out. Indeed, this stoutly-bred type left the impression that the further he went, the better he went. By Mtoto, 1m4f won't be beyond him and a lot depends on how the handicapper evaluates this victory.

Colorado Springs is similarly unattractively handicapped on a mark of 68. She plugged on but was still beaten 11 lengths. Even so, this was her first run of the year and consequently may tighten up.

Speyside faltered and looked to lose his action with jockey Michael Hills easing him down.
