Cheeky Try tracked leader, raced keenly, slipped bend 5f out, ridden 3f out, weakened inside final furlong

Pure Inspiration dwelt, held up, ridden over 2f out, soon outpaced

Adam Eterno chased leaders, ridden over 5f out, weakened over 2f out, eased inside final furlong

In what was a very low-grade contest, there were only two horses with past winning form and one of those, LEDGERWOOD, managed to get the job done. It wasn't an altogether convincing display as, for a few moments, over 1f out, it didn't look as if he was going to go past the long-time leader Una Auroraborealis. But under a strong drive from James Doyle, he responded sufficiently to master his chief rival and notch a second career win. Ledgerwood was the one to beat, taking into account the way the race was framed, but he wouldn't be one to have great faith in back in handicaps.

Lancaster Lad stayed on in third but this is very much his grade. Indeed, it is hard to be positive at all about the overall form of the race and you couldn't say for certain that a winner - let alone two or more - will come from it.
