Trikirk, a maiden winner over the trip at Tramore in 2006, had made an encouraging start to the season when second at the Curragh a week earlier. Raised 3lb for that effort, he produced another solid effort and hit the front under two furlongs out before the winner proved too strong for him in the closingstages.
Chakeera, placed a couple of times last season, showed improvement from her first run of the year. She closed on the inside to chase the leaders into the straight and looked a possibility when switched to challenge, only for her effort to peter out in the last 100 yards.
Maal, a bumper winner who had produced a couple of fair efforts last season, showed improvement from his first race of the season at Dundalk and should be capable of better on drier ground following this encouraging run. [TOH]
