Moiqen tracked leaders, close 3rd on outer entering straight, disputed lead under 2f out, led over 1f out, kept on well under pressure
Hebridean raced in 6th, ridden and some headway entering straight, close 4th 1 1/2f out, 2nd and challenged inside final furlong, no extra final 100yds
Unwritten Rule raced in 5th, took closer order over 2f out, soon ridden and kept on to go 3rd inside final furlong
Alessandro Volta tracked leader, headway on inner to dispute lead approaching straight, headed over 1f out, 4th and no extra inside final furlong, eased close home
King Of Rome led, quickened pace over 4f out, joined approaching straight, headed 1 1/2f out, soon no extra and weakened
Dirar chased leaders in 4th, closer and ridden 2f out, no extra 1f out
Solas Na Greine always towards rear, no extra from 2f out, soon weakened, eased final furlong
Hebridean looked to have improved a good deal over the winter and ran pretty much the same race with the winner as when they contested the 2,000 Guineas Trial here a fortnight earlier. Held up off the pace, he came with a run inside the final furlong, although he didn’t really pose a threat to the winner. He does possess a turn of foot and the way he finished suggested an extra two furlongs should be within his range.
Unwritten Rule ran a bit flatter than when upsetting Washington Irving here a fortnight earlier, but on the plus side he is another for whom 1m4f shouldn’t be a problem and he could get further. He was tapped for tactical speed before staying on up the straight without being able to challenge.
Stablemate King Of Rome acted in a pacemaking role but kept on well once he was headed, finishing in front of the one-paced Dirar.
Solas Na Greine was last throughout and never a factor. [JOH]
