Analyis of the race

The best two-year-old maiden seen this season and there should be quite a few winners to come out of the race. VILASOL came back in style on this better ground after a disappointing run at the Curragh. Always in the first two and travelling well, he was sent on well over a furlong out and the advantage he poached was crucial, as the placed horses were getting to him in the closing stages. On this evidence, 6f suits him and he would seem to have enough speed for the minimum trip.

Ryehill Dreamer won’t be long in winning. Held up early, he didn’t have the clearest of runs in the straight and received a hefty bump from the favourite, but when a gap appeared inside the final furlong he quickened through it in good style but the winner had flown. He would deserve to be a short-priced favourite to reverse the placings should they meet again.

Plenty of promise, too, from Daggers Bond. He ran green and struggled a little bit to go the early pace but kept on strongly when pulled to the outside in the closing stages. He should come on hugely for the experience and looks certain to win races. He should get an extra furlong as well.

Chief Wild Cat ran keenly from the front and lacked a gear when the winner quickened over a furlong out. He kept on at one pace inside the final furlong and perhaps 5f on a sound surface might suit him better.

There was some promise from Little Opera, who closed on the outside over a furlong out but then weakened, while favourite Four Star General had aprominent position for most of the way and wasn’t knocked about when his chance had gone inside the final furlong. He can be better judged on what he does next time out. [JOH]
