He was the form pick on his recent second over 7f at Folkestone, where he had run as if he would appreciate this longer trip and, under a positive ride, he confirmed that impression by pulling clear in the closing stages to win unchallenged.
Barricado, a fair third on his one juvenile start at Leicester, was doing all his best work in the latter stages here and is sure to come on for this run. He has scope and is likely to appreciate better ground.
Reine De Violette, from a top stable but a horse with a modest pedigree, showed signs of greenness on this racecourse debut and can only improve, while Trenchant wanted to hang all the way up the straight and judgement is best reserved on him for now.
