Plaudits for the Walsh aside, Renepogel was very unlucky and deserved to winthe race. Going out in front early, he jumped superbly and looked to have his rivals in trouble when getting another few lengths out of the field after the third-last and looked to have settled it again with a brilliant jump at the final fence, but it just wasn’t to be. He lost nothing whatsoever in defeat.
Rossdee Lad was held up early, closing up on the final circuit, but it was soon hard work for him and he kepton at the one pace from before the second-last, finishing just in front of Ah Come On Tom, who was prominent in the leading group until beginning to struggle after the third-last.
