Liffer Lad tracked leaders, 6th halfway, ridden in 7th after 3 out, kept on one pace

Shaantina mid-division, ridden and no impression 4 out

Free Speech mid-division, ridden and no impression 3 out

Supreme Design mid-division, ridden and no impression 3 out

Ye Of Little Faith chased leaders, 3rd halfway, ridden and weakened after 4 out

Hopeful Choice chased leaders, 2nd halfway, ridden in 3rd after 3 out, soon weakened

Angelina Jolly chased leaders, 4th halfway, improved to 2nd 3 out, ridden and weakened before 2 out

Shrone always towards rear, tailed off

The second-last hurdle in this race was omitted after it was damaged on the first circuit. A terrific ride from Ruby Walsh on the winner here as SOMETHING GRAND got up close home. Held up well off the pace, she made gradual progress to close on the leading group after the second-last and sustained her run to get an unlikely lead after the final flight. She may return to the Flat, although she has a rating of just 42.

In what was a good race for the handicapper, locally trained Thats My Pet didn’t quite come from as far back as the winner. She moved into fourth place after the second-last and eventually was sent to the front with what looked like a perfectly timed challenge at the final flight, before getting mugged on the line. She was unfortunate, but will get her turn soon on this evidence.

Stylish Bid tried to make all and quickened it up after the second-last, briefly looking as though she had the opposition in trouble, and still led coming to the last before she was headed early onthe run-in. She stuck to her task well, though, and similar tactics may bear fruit in a similar event.

On his first run since September, The Kiddo ran a very eyecatching race. He was well behind early, before making sustained progress to be just behind the leaders jumping after the second-last, but his effort petered out from the final flight. This effort should sharpen him up a good deal and a similar race looks very winnable.

Favourite Mysheramour was awkward at the first flight and found herself well behind early on. She couldn’t really make any progress until it was too late as she stayed on past beaten horses to be nearest at the finish.
