The winner will face stiffer tests than this as he absolutely danced home. Always in the first three or four, he travelled well to lead after the third-last, eventually stretching on between the last two and the only cause for worry was a slightly over-extravagant jump at the final flight. He couldn’t have won any more easily and has every chance of winning in better company.
Dan Kahtan had run with some promise at Fairyhouse last week and ran better here. The handicapper would probably be entitled to give him a mark of around 100. He tried to make all, and while having no chancewith Captain Conflict when headed, he ran on well enough to be a clear-cut second best. Chances are at present that he may be more capable of winning a small maiden hurdle somewhere than a handicap.
Galiana didn’t run too badly after being brought the long way down from his Dungannon base. Held up early, he made some progress to be in touch after the third-last and from there stayed on at the one pace.
Blues In The Night was prominent most of the way, but wasridden and one paced from after the third-last, as was the below-par Allen Diamond, although he was running for the first time since October.
Mister Tibbs, who tracked the lead most of the way, was being ridden after the third-last from where he proceeded to hang badly and eventually fell at the second-last. He has ability.
