Just an average contest and VIRGINIA PREUIL was able to capitalise on a lacklustre performance from the odds-on runner-up. He had shown some reasonable form in Ireland and had only joined his current connections six weeks ago but, once he jumped ahead of the early leader Big John Macarty at the seventh, a surprise always looked on the cards. He sealed victory with an quick jump at the last and proved his ability to act on this faster ground. His connections had been delighted with his work in theprevious ten days and he could well add to this success in similar company.

Imminent Victory was prominentfor a long way and ran well enough on his first outing since January. There will be weaker races than this where he can make more of an impact.
