Not many in this novice chase but an intriguing contest all the same. Outsider Midleton Madness aside, three of them already had solid-enough form in chases, while the other three were trying their luck for the first time over fences in public.

The pace was relentless early and both Hot Zone and Noble Ben were well clear for much of the race. However, their early exertions took their toll by the time they started back towards the stands and DHEHDAAH, who was useful at his best over hurdles, was inthe ideal position to strike. There was always going to be only one winner from that point, barring any incidents, and he made a very pleasing chasing debut.

Misbehaviour and Ballyboley were not beaten far by the runner-up but it's fair to say they never posed a threat.

Wantage Road had looked a shade disappointing asa hurdler and did not shape much better in this.

Hot Zone just went far too quickly early and had no chance of keeping that gallop up.
