Having caught a tartar on his previous start, the six-year-old continued his rich vein of form with a clear-cut verdict over Pitbull.
Pitbull looked a shade unlucky as he returned to the surface on which he'd won his two previous starts. Held up in midfield, he picked up strongly when seeing daylight on the far side, but by that time Princewallywogan had flown.
Etoile Russe has had his problems and this was a rare visit to the course, but a promising one nevertheless. Though still a maiden on the Flat, he'd run well here two years ago and put a couple of chasing falls behind him by staying on well to get into the money.
Calcutta Cup may not have been suited by the drop in trip after his connections made a ground check. Nevertheless, he showed sufficient promise to suggest he can soon break his maiden tag.
Zach's Harmoney is dropping in the ratings, but takes a strong hold, while L'Oiseau De Feu doesn't seem to have been sweetened up by some runs over hurdles.
