Off the course for the best part of a year, the speedily bred filly confirmed the impression she'd made in Listed company at Haydock last June before a knee injury put her on the sidelines. Trainer Ed McMahon has had to be patient with the winner, who wasn't ready for her intended comeback assignment at Doncaster, and also missed the Abernant at Newmarket. He said: "I had to take a step back and wait for her to tell me, but she really blossoms at this time of year."
Crystany, backed as if defeat was out of the question, was ridden like a good filly, but although picking up well, had too much to dowhen the winner burst clear. The form of her comeback race at Newmarket has worked out and she clearly has the talent to win in Listed class. She just ran into one here.
Dubai Princess interefered with the gambled-on Ripples Maid after a couple of furlongs. Recovering her poise, she endorsed the opinion of her connections that she's a Listed-class filly, but was disadvantaged by her draw.
Tia Mia looked to be travelling kindly at halfway and improved for a switch to turf. It was a shade disappointing that she didn't quicken, but this was an improved run. She finished second at a similar level last spring.
