According to Henry Candy the winner hadn't got the trip when tried over 7f on his Newbury reappearance and will stick to sprinting, an area in which his stable has an abundance of talent.
Candy observed: "He's a horse that would get seven, but it takes him a long time to wind himself up off a slow pace. He wants six furlongs and a strong gallop, and that will be his future."
Baldemar did little wrong as he tracked the early leader Kashoof and came through to take a definite edge over a furlong out. For a few strides he looked like holding his advantage, but was worried out of it. Up 4lb for his promising comeback run, he confirmed his supriority over Mister Hardy and Anosti.
Soopacal took a strong hold and tried to mix it with Kashoof, only to get tired. He looks too high in the weights and needs some respite.
Lord Sandicliffe ran as if he wants 7f, while Mister Hardy seemed unhappy on the drying ground.
