Analyis of the race
A moderate bunch, as one would expect, but at least several of them came here in form.
CARLITOS SPIRIT was among them, having won at Nottingham last time, and with the assistance of one of the most experienced riders and the benefit of a stands' rail draw she won decisively.
The winning margin flattered him, however, as Oi Vay Joe threw away his chance by hanging sharply left inside the final furlong and ending up out in the middle of the track.
Desert Dreamer went down early and wasplum last of the main group two furlongs out (Glencalvie was alone up the far rail and had no chance from before halfway), racing on the rail. He had to be switched to run through the pack and did did well to finish third. He has been in great form on the all-weather and carried a similar level across here to turf.
