Red Rocks made all, responded well to pressure final furlong, ran on
Many Volumes held up in touch, headway 3f out, ridden to chase winner final furlong, always just held
Al Shemali tracked winner, hard ridden over 1f out, lost 2nd entering final furlong, kept on but no extra inside final furlong
Pinpoint held up, headway to 3rd 6f out, ridden and weakened over 1f out
Murfreesboro took keen hold in rear, in touch to over 3f out, soon lost all chance
He regressed after winning the Gordon Richards Stakes last year and next stop is likely to be the Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh on May 25 but he will certainly be put to the test in that hot contest.
Many Volumes had run flat after being hampered at the start at Newmarket last weekend but a gallop in mid-week with Twice Over confirmed that he was better than he showed on that occasion and connections will have taken encouragement from this ahead of that horse's run in the Dante on Thursday. He raced wide in touch in the early stages but coming into the straight switched left to deliver his challenge to the inner of the winner. He ran well facing a stiff task and he can soon make amends. especially if there is handicap for him before he is reassessed.
Pinpoint tracked the winner in the early stages but found the going too tough in the final two furlongs and Murfreesboro found this all too difficult facing such a stiff task. (TE)
